This is a shoe last for making women’s ballerina shoes. The shoe last is symmetrical, meaning the medial and lateral sides are mirror images of one another. The toe box has a flat front (chopped toe by default) for supporting the foot on pointe. Toe allowance is not required for this shoe last given the toes press into the end of the last. However, some space is provided to allow for about 5mm of padding for the default size. By default, the feather edge is rounded off behind the mid arch for a close fitting rearfoot while the sharp feather edge is maintained in the forefoot. Positive heel height combined with negative toe spring are used to create a shape that closely follows that of the foot in the on pointe position. The continuous ramping transition from the vamp to the cone is a result of this. The default size is US women’s 6.5B.
Note that this is a concept shoe last that has not yet been tested for making ballerina shoes.
