3DShoemaker Shoe Last Leg Sections: Parametric and 3D Printable

This is just a quick update to show that leg sections are now available for some 3DShoemaker shoe lasts. They can be 3D printed, are available as physical samples, and also as fully parametric models in the 3DShoemaker plugin for Rhino3D. Leg sections aren’t typically necessary for making most boots, not even for shafted boots like cowboy boots. Rather, a leg section is only necessary for some specialty types of footwear, such as orthopedic or Wellington boots. With Wellington boots, also known as gum or rubber boots, the material is melted and formed around the shoe last. Though beyond this type of high volume production technique, I can also see these kinds of footwear being produced via 3D printing, making the final leg section geometry dictated by the shoe last. Leg sections are just one more added feature as I endeavor to make 3DShoemaker a comprehensive shoemaking solution. That’s all for this quick update, thanks for reading.
